Stuff and Nonsense

Cozy Monday

The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco (Book Club Mystery #1) by Laura DiSilverio (Obsidian mass market, 7 April 2015).

Amy-Faye Johnson tried living and working in the city, but it just wasn't for her.  She returned to her hometown of Heaven, Colorado  and started an event-planning business.

Of course, things aren't always wonderful.
She wouldn't have agreed to plan this wedding had she known that the groom was her ex-boyfriend, but she doesn't know how to gracefully back out.

And then one of the members of her book group, the Readaholics, dies suddenly, and Amy-Faye is the one to find her.  The police rule Ivy's death a suicide, but Amy-Faye and the other Readaholics know that Ivy would never kill herself.  But since the police believe Ivy's ne'er-do-well brother Ham when he insists that his sister was depressed, the Readaholics just have to prove that they are mistaken.

The story is extremely well-plotted and there are just enough twists and red herrings that the identity of the killer is a mystery until the very end.

I loved the characters in this book!  It's great that the Readaholics vary in age and ethnicity, and Amy-Faye's family is just as interesting.

I look forward to getting to know them better in the next book in the series, The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle, due in December 2015.
