What an engrossing story!
Elizabeth Harris, a homicide detective, leaves the NYPD after the murder of her husband, and moves back home to Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth's supervisor, Detective Lieutenant Michael Grady, who's been there for several years, is convinced that the body was left in the barn by someone "English" (the local term for non-Amish) in order to confuse investigators.
But Elizabeth's instincts disagree with Grady, and she must find some information that supports her theory.
Jane Jensen has created a believable protagonist that readers can readily empathize with. Although the investigation is described in a detailed manner, the tone is neither clinical pedantic.
This book is not a cozy mystery, as one might expect from this publisher, but it is well-written and compelling.
