Yes, that title is deliberately provocative.
I’m angry. No, I’m furious.
Orange County
(CA) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nichole Quick resigned after receiving death
threats. The reason for the threats?
She mandated the wearing of face masks in public.
I guess I
shouldn’t be so surprised at the sheer selfishness and deliberate ignorance of
the same people who just a few weeks ago claimed it was their “right as
Californians” to go to the beach.
These people
don’t want to wear masks because:
“Breathing in my own CO2 is dangerous.”
Yeah, tell that to the medical personnel who wear surgical masks for hours at a time.

“Wearing a mask is uncomfortable.”
So is wearing a bra, sweetheart. And from what I understand, being intubated is even more uncomfortable.
“But, freedom of choice!”
Okay, see what happens when you use your “freedom” to go outside naked.
“I tested negative for the virus.”
That doesn’t mean you’ll test negative tomorrow, or next week, or next month.
“I’m young and healthy, so I’m immune.”
Even if you are (which is doubtful), wearing a mask is not about protecting you, it’s about protecting those around you. Like your grandparents, or your diabetic sister, for example.
“Someone said that wearing masks doesn’t prevent me from getting the virus.” See above.
Oh, not only am
I furious, I’m terrified.
I have lupus
and a heart condition.
I’m happy to
wear a mask, even though I understand that it’s really protecting you.
I’m sorry you
don’t feel the same about me.
