Stuff and Nonsense

Please welcome special guest Peg Brantley!

There are many poems that hold meaning for me, but I chose this one in honor of my mother-in-law who will celebrate her 105th birthday on April 24th. Her book, and her voice, reflect the varied eras in which she has lived.

A Nightly Dream

It was only a dream
that seemed so real.
You held me in your arms
displayed all your charms.

Night after night, over and over again,
you filled my heart with memories of love
When I awake and you are not there,
the pain is too hard to bear.

Will the dreams go away
or do I want them to?
Or do I enjoy being tortured this way?
All I can say
I love the way
they make me feel,
those nightly dreams
that seem so real.
