There are many poems that hold meaning for me, but I chose this one in honor of my mother-in-law who will celebrate her 105th birthday on April 24th. Her book, and her voice, reflect the varied eras in which she has lived.
A Nightly Dream
It was only a dreamthat seemed so real. You held me in your armsdisplayed all your charms.Night after night, over and over again, you filled my heart with memories of loveWhen I awake and you are not there, the pain is too hard to bear. Will the dreams go awayor do I want them to?Or do I enjoy being tortured this way?All I can sayI love the waythey make me feel, those nightly dreamsthat seem so real.
