Teen Tuesday

Dream a Little Dream (Silver Trilogy #1) by Kerstin Gier; Translated by Anthea Bell (Henry Holt & Co. hardcover, 14 April 2015).

Fifteen-year-old Liv Silver and her younger sister are excited about moving to London to live with their mother, but a little disappointed when they learn they'll actually be moving in with mum's boyfriend and his twins, Grayson and Florence.

And the adjustment to a new school isn't any less difficult because Grayson and Florence both go there.  When she has a strange dream which involves Grayson and some of his friends performing an occult ritual, she's a little spooked.

Waking up the next morning and remembering it in detail is even more spooky, but then Grayson and his friends start hanging around her.  She soon realizes that she and the boys are able to visit each others' dreams and interact within those dreams.

While reading this book the reader is drawn in as if part of Liv's world, and emerging from it is a bit startling. Although the premise is completely different from that of Gier's  Ruby Red Trilogy, the story and characters are just as compelling.

Waiting for the second book in the series promises to be sheer agony.
