And when Jordan is fired and evicted the day after a creepy woman bullies her way into the house, she feels protective of her boss and suspicious of the stranger.
Ensconced in her childhood room back at her uncles' house, she attempts to learn more about the obnoxious Muriel Delgado, but is able to find very little. Her Uncle Kevin, who still works for Vera reports that Muriel is more or less blackmailing Vera, but hasn't been able to discover with what. And Vera is being uncharacteristically meek in the face of Muriel's bullying.
Jordan is an engaging character, with a job any book lover would kill for. Getting to know the independent, intelligent young woman through her adventures is a delight!
